Hempstead Avenue [11-13-11]
On a windy November afternoon, the Rockville Centre Fire Department was dispatched to the water tower on the Molloy College Campus on Hempstead Avenue. The call was a rescue operation to retrieve a worker whose scaffolding had given way and left him hanging by only his harness. The worker was painting the water tower when the mishap occurred. Rockville Centre Truck Company [currently operating the previous 2442 from Oceanside while their truck is O.O.S.] was the first truck company on scene. Nassau County Emergency Services Unit 2423 responded to the scene, and a mutual aid originally requested for Freeport Truck to respond. Because the grab was made in such a timely manner, the FFD's presence was not needed. The worker was checked out by the RVCFD Floodlight Company and was an RMA [refused medical attention].
