Delisle Avenue [12-31-18]
The Roosevelt Fire Department was called to a house fire on Delisle Avenue off Elizabeth Street in the early morning hours of Monday, December 31st, 2018. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with heavy fire at the rear of a two-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and moments later a second alarm bringing additional resources to the scene. During the operation fire conditions began to deteriorate resulting in an evacuation order of all members and a brief exterior operation. Once firefighters gained the upper hand on the fire an interior attack resumed. Among the departments called for mutual aid were Baldwin, Uniondale, Hempstead, and North Merrick. The cause of the fire is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Roosevelt Chief of Department Fennell [7300].
