Lincoln Avenue [1-22-12]
Just before two in the afternoon on January 22nd, the Roosevelt Fire Department responded to their second working house fire in less than ten hours. The early morning fire was located at 129 West Forest Avenue, while the afternoon worker occurred at 58 Lincoln Avenue [Horace Avenue and Park Avenue as the cross streets]. The Command Post was set up out of 7300 and North Merrick was immediately notified to respond to the scene as the FAST Team. When North Merrick Truck 673 arrived on scene they took position on Park Avenue while Roosevelt Ladders 734 and 735 staged on the fire block. Roosevelt Engine 732 was the first engine to arrive on scene and started stretching lines into the vacant, private dwelling. The home was a two and a half story private dwelling measuring approximately thirty by thirty-five and required the usage of at least two lines to extinguish the fire. Additional mutual aid was requested to Roosevelt Headquarters at 56 West Centennial Avenue and to the scene of the fire. Among the units on scene were an engine and a ladder from both Hempstead and North Merrick. Standing by at Headquarters were West Hempstead and Uniondale engines while ladders were provided by Baldwin and South Hempstead. All units were under the command of Chief 7300.
