Nassau Road [8-11-15]
Just before 04:00 hours on the morning of Tuesday, August 11th, 2015 the Roosevelt Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire at a gas station located at the intersection of Nassau Road and Debevoise Avenue. Multiple calls were being received reporting the incident with many of them advising that there was a car into the building at the location with fire involved. Roosevelt Chief Derrick Fennell [7300] was among the first on scene and was met with an overturned auto into a gas pump with visible fire. The Chief requested that the first due engine step it up. Roosevelt Engine 732 and Quint 734 were quickly on scene and each had a line in operation. Firefighters applied foam to the affected area to take away the risk of fire. The driver of the sport utility vehicle was the only occupant of the auto and was transported to an area hospital by a Nassau County Police Ambulance. The cause of the accident remained under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Roosevelt Chief of Department Derrick Fennell [7300].
