Pennsylvania Avenue [4-11-20]
Late on the night of Saturday, April 11th, 2020 the Roosevelt Fire Department was called to a house fire on Pennsylvania Avenue off Cedar Avenue. Roosevelt Safety Officer [7330] and Ex-Chief Fennell was among the first fire department units to arrive on scene. After investigating he located a fire on the second floor of a two-story private dwelling and transmitted a signal ten [working fire]. North Merrick was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 673. Also, on scene was Merrick Ladder 6411, Hempstead Ladder 2, Uniondale Engine 7522, Freeport Hose 3 [213], and an ambulance from South Hempstead. Firefighters put one hand line into operation and had the main body of fire quickly knocked down. The scene was placed under control within twenty-five minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Roosevelt Chief of Department Chris Wint [7300].
