West Fulton Avenue [1-14-12]
The Roosevelt Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 71 West Fulton Avenue [Elysian Terrace and Nassau Road as the cross streets] just after three p.m. on January 14th. Upon arrival, first units on scene were met with heavy fire on the second floor of a private dwelling. After only a few minutes into operations, command struck a second alarm to bring more manpower and apparatus to the scene. Chief 7300 was the incident commander while 735 and 732 were the first truck and engine on scene respectively. Mutual aid was called to the scene and to Roosevelt Headquarters. Among the mutual aid units responding to the scene were a North Merrick Ladder acting as the FAST team, a North Merrick Ambulance, and a Merrick Engine. Standing by at Roosevelt Headquarters was a Merrick Ambulance, a Uniondale Engine, a West Hempstead Engine, a Hempstead Ladder, and a South Hempstead Ladder and Ambulance. At least three lines were put into operation to fight the mid-afternoon, Saturday fire. As previously stated, all units were under the command of 7300.
