Jefferson Avenue [6-18-22]

On the evening of Saturday, June 18th, 2022, the Bayville Fire Company hosted the 5th battalion parade – also a celebration of their one hundredth anniversary. Among the departments in attendance were the Roslyn Fire Companies who while out of service were being covered by Hicksville Engine 937 and East Rockaway Ladder 403. Shortly after being put into place these standby companies were dispatched to a report of a house fire on Jefferson Avenue off Powerhouse Road. First arriving units encountered heavy fire throughout a two-story private dwelling leading to the transmission of a signal ten [working fire]. The operation reached a multiple alarm equivalency which brought mutual aid from neighboring departments. Some of these departments were also out of service for the parade and were being covered by standby companies [i.e. Oceanside the acting Glenwood engine and Inwood the acting Sea Cliff ladder]. The cause of the fire is currently unknown and is under investigation.
