Altamont Avenue [1-23-21]

At 15:11 hours on the afternoon of Saturday, January 23rd, 2021 the Sea Cliff Fire Department was called to a house fire on Altamont Avenue off Hammond Road. Those first to arrive on scene were met with smoke showing from a two and a half story private dwelling. Upon further investigation firefighters found fire towards the rear of the residence. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Firefighters went on to stretch two hand lines and put at least one of those lines into operation. As a result, the main body of fire was quickly knocked down. Among the departments called for mutual aid was Glen Cove, Glenwood, and Roslyn. One occupant was transported from the scene to an area hospital with minor burns. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
