Park Avenue [3-24-12]
Just after noon on March 24th, the Seaford Fire Department responded to a car fire in the driveway of 3768 Park Avenue [Crestwood Road and Dogwood Lane as the cross streets]. Upon arrival, the first Chief on scene confirmed a working car fire in the driveway and immediately requested that the first engine “step it up” to the scene. Seaford Engine 682 was the first engine on scene and picked up a hydrant across from the burning Suburban. Two lines were stretched and put into operation to fight the midday fire. Seaford Ladder 683 also responded to the scene and its members took to the home. Truck company members opened up the siding which began to give in to the heat and fire. Extension was confined to the exterior siding. Once on scene units were able to make a quick knockdown of a fire that sent smoke into the sky that could be seen for miles.
