FDNY 343 Ride [9-7-16]
“To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 the members of FDNY’s Engine 50, Ladder 19, and Battalion 26, organized a bicycle ride from Montauk, NY to Washington D.C. The ride was 343 miles. One mile for each firefighter that died in the line of duty on the tragic morning of September 11th, 2001. The ride was also used as a fundraising effort to assist our service men and women who have given so much defending this great country.” On Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 the 343 Ride began the first leg of its 343-mile journey. In this gallery are pictures of the ride when it passed through Oceanside and then stopped at Lynbrook Vulcan Engine Company 2. When the ride got to the firehouse riders were able to rest, put their bicycles into a provided FedEx truck, and take a bus in Manhattan before getting themselves ready for the second day.
