Irene Street [3-17-19]

Firefighters operated on the scene of a South Hempstead signal ten [working fire] on the morning of Sunday, March 17th, 2019. The fire was in the basement of a two-story private dwelling on Irene Street off Central Avenue. There was extension to the first floor; however, all visible fire was quickly knocked down. Among the departments called for mutual aid were Baldwin, Hempstead, Rockville Centre, and West Hempstead. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of South Hempstead Chief of Department John Kelly [7400].
