Maple Avenue [10-13-20]

On the evening of Tuesday, October 13th, 2020 the South Hempstead Fire Department was called to a house fire on Maple Avenue off Woodland Drive. South Hempstead Chief of Department Chuck Sadler [7400] was among the first to arrive on scene and transmitted a signal ten [working fire] for a fire in the basement of a two-story private dwelling. West Hempstead was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 765. Among the other departments called for mutual aid was Baldwin, Hempstead, and Roosevelt. Firefighters put two hand lines into operation and had the fire quickly knocked down. The scene was placed under control within thirty minutes and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
