Jerusalem Avenue [12-30-15]
Late on the morning of Wednesday, December 30th, 2015 the Uniondale Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke on the second floor of the A. Holly Patterson Care Facility located at 875 Jerusalem Avenue. Uniondale Ladder 7544 and Fire Prevention Officer Pete Anglim [7550] were among the first units to arrive on scene. Upon investigating firefighters were met with an odor of electrical burning throughout the building. After talking to employees of the building it was discovered that workers were recently on premise performing generator work. Due to limited manpower two mutual aid ladders and two mutual aid engines were called to the scene. Ladder 2 from Hempstead and Ladder 6544 from North Bellmore responded along with engines from South Hempstead and Roosevelt. Firefighters went throughout the building ensuring that there was no immediate fire hazard and eventually turned it over to the staff of the building to have the condition corrected. Baldwin Engine 201 and Ladder 207 stood by for Uniondale during the operation. All fire department units were under the command of Uniondale Second Assistant Chief Teddy Smith [7502].
