Hempstead Boulevard [6-29-16]
At 17:59 hours on the evening of Tuesday, June 29th, 2016 the Uniondale Fire Department was dispatched to 609 Hempstead Boulevard for a report of smoke in the basement. Uniondale Second Assistant Chief Jean Laurent was among the first to arrive on scene and was met with smoke showing from a private dwelling. As units arrived on scene and made their way into the home they found that they had a possible fire in the attic of the home. Firefighters opened up the attic wall on the number two side of the home and found a small area burning. One line was put into operation to completely put out the fire while a second line stood fast at the front door. The homeowner was evaluated by EMS members on scene and was not transported. An immediate response from the Nassau County Fire Marshal was requested.
