Harrison Street [11-28-19]

On Thanksgiving afternoon [November 28th, 2019] the Uniondale Fire Department was called to a basement fire at a home on Harrison Street in the dead end off Nassau Road. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a confirmed fire in the basement of a one and a half story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. North Bellmore was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 657. Firefighters stretched two hand lines with one line put into operation resulting in a quick knockdown of the fire. Roosevelt and South Hempstead were among the departments called to standby for Uniondale during the operation. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Uniondale First Assistant Chief Ashley [7501].
