Liberty Street [3-18-20]

At approximately 03:00 hours on the morning of Wednesday, March 18th, 2020 the Uniondale Fire Department was dispatched to a basement fire at a home on Liberty Street in the dead end off Hempstead Boulevard. When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with smoke showing from a two-story private dwelling. Upon further investigation firefighters confirmed a basement fire and moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted. During the operation the fire extended to the first and second floors. At least two hand lines were put into operation. The fire was quickly knocked down before it could extend further. North Bellmore was among the departments mutual aided to the scene. Standing by for Uniondale during the operation were units from Hempstead, South Hempstead, and Roosevelt. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Uniondale Chief of Department John Skelly [7500].
