Filbert Street [12-27-18]
On the evening of Thursday, December 27th, 2018 the Valley Stream Fire Department operated on the scene of a signal ten [working fire] at a home on Filbert Street off Pershing Avenue. Firefighters battled heavy fire throughout a two and a half story private dwelling. Due to the significant amount of fire the operation reached a second alarm equivalency bringing additional resources to the scene. Valley Stream Engine 343 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had four hand lines stretched. Malverne, Inwood, Elmont, Hewlett, and Woodmere were among the departments called for mutual aid. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Valley Stream Chief of Department Croak [3400].
