Orchard Place [10-24-19]
On the afternoon of Thursday, October 24th, 2019 the Valley Stream Fire Department was called to a house fire on Orchard Place in the dead end off Liberty Boulevard. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a fire in the basement of a two-story private dwelling. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Malverne was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 434. Lynbrook was alerted for an engine to the scene and sent Engine 424. Firefighters stretched two hand lines and put one into operation resulting in a quick knockdown of the fire. Valley Stream Engine 343 and Ladder 345 were the first one and one to arrive on scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Valley Stream Chief of Department Jason Croak [3400].
