Wingate Road [1-20-18]

An odor of smoke in the area for the Valley Stream Fire Department turned into a signal ten [working fire] after firefighters found an attached garage fire on the morning of Saturday, January 20th, 2018. The fire was located at 93 Wingate Road off Dubois Avenue. Valley Stream Engine 343 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had one hand line in operation. Hewlett was designated the FAST for the operation and responded with Ladder 303. Also on scene was Elmont Ladder 707 and an ambulance from Woodmere [Lynbrook and Malverne were also notified for mutual aid]. Firefighters made a quick knockdown of the fire and kept it from extending into the residence. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Valley Stream Chief of Department Jimmy Ervolino [3400].
