Cedar Creek Park [10-11-20]
On the afternoon of Sunday, October 11th, 2020 the Wantagh Fire Department received a call from a worker at the Cedar Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant reporting a fire in a building on the complex. When firefighters arrived on scene and made their way into the complex, they confirmed the fire condition inside one of the buildings as reported. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Seaford Ladder 683 was designated the FAST, North Bellmore Heavy Rescue 653 the FAST-Heavy Rescue, and Massapequa Ladder 632 a working truck. Firefighters stretched two hand lines and put at least one of those lines into operation resulting in the containment of the fire to one room. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Wantagh Chief of Department Ken Kelly [6900].
