Island Channel Road [3-25-18]

Around 03:00 hours on the morning of Sunday, March 25th, 2018 the Wantagh Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a house fire in the vicinity of The White Whale Restaurant on Bayview Street. As fire department units began responding they were provided a revised location of 2575 Island Channel Road. Upon arrival firefighters were met with heavy fire showing from a one and a half story private dwelling leading to a signal ten [working fire] being transmitted. Seaford was designated the FAST for the operation and responded with Ladder 683. Massapequa sent one ladder to the scene in place of Wantagh Ladder 6911 [which was out of service at the time of the fire]. Wantagh Engine 693 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and put multiple hand lines into operation to fight the fire. There was no one home at the time of the fire except for a dog which was successfully removed by neighbors prior to the fire department’s arrival. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
