Ring Lane [5-12-12]
Around 14:10 hours on May 12th, the Wantagh Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 40 Ring Lane [Saddle and Center Lanes as the cross streets]. Nassau County Police were the first to get the call after a resident at 42 Ring Lane called it in and then hung up. Wantagh Engine 694 was the first engine on scene while Wantagh Ladder Two was the first truck company on scene. First arriving units reported smoke showing from the private dwelling and the signal ten [working fire] was transmitted by the Wantagh Safety Officer [6920]. Levittown Ladder 621 responded to the scene as the original FAST team but was soon put to work. As operations progressed, North Bellmore Ladder 657 responded to the scene and became the new FAST team. The main body of fire was knocked down within forty-five minutes and the fire marshal was requested to the scene. It is believed that the fire started in the dryer and its vent work, however the official cause remained under investigation. Three lines were put into operation to fight the midafternoon fire and Seaford provided stand by in Wantagh quarters during operations.
