Shore Place [8-22-19]
Late on the night of Thursday, August 22nd, 2019 the Wantagh Fire Department was called to smoke in the house at a residence on Shore Place off Island Channel Road. When firefighters arrived on scene and made entry into the home, they were met with a confirmed smoke condition. A signal ninety-eight [smoke showing] was then transmitted. Moments later a signal ten [working fire] was transmitted after firefighters found fire in the wall in the one, four corner on the first floor. Seaford was designated the FAST and responded to the scene with Ladder 683. Wantagh Engine 693 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and had two hand lines stretched with at least one line put into operation. All visible fire was knocked down within approximately twenty minutes and searches throughout the home were negative. Standing by for Wantagh during the operation were units from Bellmore, North Bellmore, and Massapequa. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Wantagh Third Assistant Chief Mathewson [6903].
