Somerset Drive [3-13-16]
Multiple calls were being received just after seven in the morning on Sunday, March 13th, 2016 reporting a house fire at 3728 Somerset Drive just inside the Wantagh fire district. When fire department units arrived on scene they were met with heavy fire showing on the number three side of a one story private dwelling. The signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and Seaford was notified for the FAST. Seaford responded with Ladder 683 and was quickly on scene. Wantagh Engine 693 of the Harbor House was first due with Engine 695 close behind. Firefighters went on to stretch three lines with two going into operation. Due to a quick response firefighters contained the fire to the rear of the home and kept it from extending forward. An immediate response was requested for the Nassau County Fire Marshal to begin investigating how the fire started. In just under an hour the scene was placed under control. Standing by for Wantagh during the operation was Massapequa Ladder 632, an engine from Bellmore, and an ambulance from North Bellmore. All fire department units were under the command of Wantagh Chief of Department James Bloomfield [6900].
