Willow Street [10-12-18]
Late on the night of Friday, October 12th, 2018 firefighters were called to the scene of a house fire on Willow Street [off Nelson Street] in Wantagh. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted when those first to arrive on scene were met with heavy fire at the rear of a two-story private dwelling. Wantagh Engine 695 was the first engine company to arrive on scene and went on to put multiple hand lines in operation. Among the departments notified for mutual aid were Seaford, Massapequa, North Bellmore, and Bellmore. The fire went on to reach a second alarm and was placed under control within one hour. The cause of the fire is under investigation and all occupants made it safely out of the home. All fire department units were under the command of Wantagh First Assistant Chief Ken Kelly [6901].
