16th Street [6-19-15]
Late in the morning on Friday, June 19th the West Babylon Fire Department operated on the scene of an electrical fire at a 16th Street home [between 13th and 14th Avenues]. Upon arrival firefighters found smoke showing from the one story home and fire on the number four side at the electrical meter. PSEG was requested on a rush and in the interim firefighters used a dry chemical extinguisher to knock down the visible fire. Once the electric company was on scene firefighters were able to continue with the operation. It was found that the fire had extended into the home in a four foot by two foot area. The hand line that was standing by at the door was briefly put into operation. All fire department units were under the command of Santapogue Engine Company 3 Lieutenant Matt Preziosi [1-9-63]. The fire appeared to have been started by contractors working on the home.
