Hempstead Turnpike [8-27-15]

Just after 05:00 hours on the morning of Thursday, August 27th, 2015 the West Hempstead Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a building fire at National Wholesale Liquidators on Hempstead Turnpike. When firefighters arrived on scene they were met with fire showing from the compactor room in the rear of the building. A signal ten [working fire] was transmitted and mutual aid notified. Elmont L708 responded to the scene as the FAST along with units from Franklin Square, Hempstead and Malverne. Two lines were put into operation and the main body of fire was quickly knocked down. Overhaul was extensive as firefighters had to comb through the compactors to ensure all visible fire was knocked down.
