Sycamore Street [3-1-22]

The West Hempstead Fire Department along with mutual aid companies operated on the scene of a multiple alarm house fire on Sycamore Street off Hempstead Turnpike in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 1st, 2022. Firefighters put at least four hand lines into operation for heavy fire on all floors of a large, two and a half story private dwelling. The occupants of the residence either made it out safely or were not home at the time of the fire. The scene was placed under control approximately ninety minutes into the operation and the cause of the fire is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of West Hempstead Chief of Department Andrew Brohm [7600].
