West Hempstead Inspection and Installation [2-26-22]
The West Hempstead Fire Department held its department inspection and 97th annual installation dinner on the night of Saturday, February 26th, 2022. The inspection took place at West Hempstead Fire Headquarters prior to the start of the installation which was held at the Sand Castle in Franklin Square. The installation program began with the presentation of the colors by the West Hempstead Fire Department Color Guard, the pledge of allegiance led by Chief Andrew Brohm, and the invocation led by Rabbi Yehuda Pearl. Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners Scott Clark offered a few words and John Doherty was the Master of Ceremonies. During the program, the installation of line officers and the Chiefs office took place. Various awards were given out to members who recently served in office, achieved a certain milestone for years of service or had gone above and beyond in answering alarms. The most notable of the awards was made to Ex-Chief and Ex-Commissioner Ralph Nicholes for 50 years of service. Leading the West Hempstead Fire Department in the year ahead will be Chief of Department Andrew Brohm, First Assistant Chief Peter Lilli, and Second Assistant Chief Michael Vogt. Congratulations to those awarded and good luck to all those installed into office.
