Hopper Street [4-23-17]
On the afternoon of Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 the Westbury Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire across from 90 Hopper Street off Grand Boulevard. Responding fire departments were provided an additional of one 911 call from 90 Hopper Street reporting the building across the street being on fire. Shortly after receiving this additional Westbury dispatch advised that Nassau County Police were on scene with smoke showing. Westbury Chief of Department Bartunek [9601] was among the first fire department units on scene and transmitted a working fire after being met with smoke showing from a two-story commercial building located at 95 Hopper Street. A few minutes into the operation a second alarm was transmitted bringing additional mutual aid units to the scene and to standby. All visible fire was knocked down within forty-five minutes. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire, which was in a marble and tile warehouse, is under investigation. All fire department units were under the command of Westbury Chief of Department Bartunek [9601].
