Hyacinth Street [8-16-16]
On the evening of Tuesday, August 16th, 2016 the Westbury Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 2721 Hyacinth Street off of Hyacinth Court. As fire department units began responding they were advised that Nassau County Police on scene were reporting a working fire. Westbury Chief of Department John Bartunek [9601] reported smoke showing from a distance while still blocks away and upon arriving on scene transmitted the working fire. Hicksville was designated the FAST and responded with Ladder 931 but was used as a working truck company upon arrival. Jericho Ladder 941, originally assigned to standby, was redirected to the scene and also used as a working truck company. East Meadow would become the new FAST and also sent one ambulance to the scene. Carle Place Engine 917 was also directed to the scene early in the operation. At least two lines were put into operation to fight the fire which was based in the rear of the home. No injuries were reported and the scene was placed under control within forty-five minutes. All fire department units were under the command of Westbury Chief of Department John Bartunek [9601].
