Post Avenue [5-22-21]

Late on the night of Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 the Westbury Fire Department was called to a structure fire on Post Avenue between Butler and Orchard Streets. When firefighters arrived on scene, they met with fire showing from a balcony on the third of a three-story mixed occupancy. A signal thirty-two for a working fire was transmitted and mutual aid requested. Firefighters put one hand line into operation, had the fire quickly knocked down, and were able to keep the fire from extending into any of the apartments. Among the departments called for mutual aid was Carle Place, Hicksville, and Jericho. All occupants were safely evacuated and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire department units were under the command of Westbury Chief of Department Gass [9601].
