Roman Avenue [7-23-13]
On the afternoon of July 23rd the Westbury Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke from the house at 641 Roman Avenue in the New Cassel section of their district. Those who arrived first on the scene reported smoke showing from the residence and fire inside the walls. Following this report the working fire was transmitted and the additional request for manpower to respond to the scene was put out. Hicksville was notified to respond to the scene as the FAST and arrived on scene with Ladder 931. Mutual aid to the scene also consisted of Syosset Ladder 582, East Meadow Ambulance 6144, and an engine from Jericho.
Westbury Engine 969 was the first engine on scene and went on to stretch two lines. Engine 966 was the second engine to arrive on the scene of the fire while Westbury Ladder 962 was the first truck company. Within twenty minutes all fire was knocked down and the scene was placed under control. The fire was said to be in a first floor bathroom in the three, four corner of the home. The cause of the fire remained under investigation and all fire department units were under the command of Westbury Chief of Department Doug Ingram.
